#GetGoodSummer hots up Week 8

This week was #LaylaWeek as I desperately tried to achieve my last goal.

Well, that was the plan anyway, but a child, lack of guitar, school planning and a terrifying IKEA trip (!) got in the way somewhat!

With only two weeks to go in #GetGoodSummer, it was vital that I finally started with Goal 5, previously known as “The one I was too nervous to begin”.

I finally picked up my guitar on Monday and started fiddling around with the famous guitar lick, which I grew to love a long time ago. I’ve also been learning the chords to play the verse along with the singing.

Success rate? Well, I can play the solo but at about 20% of full speed! A fair bit of work to do there then. As for the chords? They’re coming quite comfortably , but I have no idea how to fit them together with the solo – usually the two are played on separate guitars!

As for the rest of my goals, three of them are ticked off. I even got the pleasure of playing my wife at Table Tennis on our holiday last week which was great fun. It was extremely close …

Finally, Philippians is three verses away from being memorised. Now I’ve got it in my head, I’ve got so many memory verses to refer to! This week’s is I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Really helpful to remember as the tentacles of back to school begin to wrap around me again. More on that in future posts!

How are your summer goals going?

  1. Well done on a productive week. Most impressed by your goal of memorising Philippians #getgoodsummer

Thanks – enjoying doing these goals. It gives some purpose to the summer beyond cleaning up nappies and sorting out food! Can we do a #getgoodautumn as well?!

  2. Failing dismally..had determined to practice my cello every day apart from when on holiday…not managed once! But…have had a lovely holiday, got a few things sorted in school and met up with a few friends so not all bad!

Oh no! Judith I was looking forward to your cello symphony as well! But hey, sounds like you’re still getting lots of good stuff done anyway 🙂

  3. Go, Joe, go! Dave could tell you all about terrifying IKEA trips! Oh dear! So impressed you’ve learnt Philippians… You’ve given me the incentive to put that on my list for next year! 🙂 Sadly no #GetGoodAutumn, but #SavouringtheSeason will be bk on Thursdays in September if that floats your boat! Looking forward to reading your grand finale next week!! Claire 🙂

I bet being in Norway you could have some interesting IKEA visits as well! #SavouringtheSeason…like the sound of it 🙂
