Rovers head to Leeds tonight looking to continue their excellent recent results against their Yorkshire rivals but off the back of a hugely frustrating defeat to Burnley at the weekend.
And with it being on Sky yet again, I’m not exactly feeling confident.
Since dropping to the Championship three seasons ago, their record on Sky has really not been great.
A victory against Ipswich on the final day last year is one of only two times they’ve bagged the three points. In fact, they’ve been so bad when televised that they’ve hardly been featured at all in front of the live cameras.
This season has been unusual in that the match at Elland Road will be the fourth time already that Rovers fans could watch their team.
One point from three games (and that a diabolical 0-0 draw with Bolton in August) is not much to write home about.
Instead, national viewers got to see Grant Hanleys dreadful defending and then clearly over the line “goal” at Fulham. Magnified by the cameras, it only served to highlight the ongoing frustrations of not getting the rub of the green.
Last weekends defeat showcased Tom Lawrence’s desire to break the net only to hit the back of the stand with a glorious chance and Jordan Rhodes’ off day in front of goal before Burnley once again partied on the Ewood pitch. Horrible.
So off we head to Elland Road, scene of last year’s 3-0 triumph. Scorers that day? Cairney, Rhodes, Spearing. Two have gone and our replacement midfielders don’t look capable of scoring.
Leeds are probably due a win against Rovers too.
It doesn’t look promising.
