On this day ten years ago, I was feeling ill and rather sorry for myself when a young lady who I’d been on a couple of dates with rocked up at my house.
She had brought with her some feel-better goodies – chocolate, orange juice – and then took advantage of my sorry state to ask if I was ready to “make it official on Facebook.”
The rest, as they say, is history.
Ten years on from that fateful day, the girl who updated her relationship status is my best friend, most trusted confidant and closest companion.
We have been through a lot together – leaving university and starting careers, marriage, too many house moves to count, the birth and upbringing of two children.
It has been a wonderful rollercoaster ride, with plenty of thrills and spills along the way. I’m not the easiest person to be married to – certainly not at the moment! – and yet she is so wonderful in sorting everything out, keeping everything on track and moving our lives forward.
I am so grateful for her and my life has been unbelievably enriched by us being together.
Oh, and how to mark it?
…how times have changed!
